So, at a meeting today my boss mentioned that I would be starting maternity leave next week and wished me well. Afterwards a colleague came up and said, "I didn't know you were pregnant. I thought that you were just getting fat." Umm yeah. You might want to leave that second part off the next time you encounter this situation. Fortunately I am not too easily offended and found it amusing. I made various colleagues laugh by passing on the remark (without identifying the person).
I suppose it's still a step up from when people ask a woman when she is due and she isn't actually pregant!
Due at end of July so it is seeming very close now. Could be sooner of course depending on what bub decides to do. I was planning on working until a little later but I am more tired this time. Partly due to the pain from my pelvis and down my legs and partly because I can't rest when I get home because I have a toddler who wants attention and who I also want to spend some time with while he is awake. I have also been losing sleep because he has been teething and waking up during the night. I have been so tired that I was struggling to get my programming done - other people have helped me. I figured that seeing as I was lacking a brain there wasn't much benefit to my team in my staying any longer.
